We know that a LOT of people tend to head out of London for Easter but for those of you staying we have good news – Ben’s Canteen will be open throughout and we’re bringing in some of the Rib Man’s Christ on a Bike hot sauce to make it a memorable one.

Our rocking weekend brunch will be in full swing on both Good Friday and Easter Monday and of course on Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 4pm. Come and indulge in one of London’s Top Brunches (according to the lovely people at Top Table). And then from 5pm, join us for dirty burgers (MSN recently named us as one of the Top 21 Burger Places in the UK) and lighter bites.

  • Get involved with our cocktails. Post rugby Old Fashioneds sound good to us whilst the girls at the Canteen love the Damson in Distress (Damson Vodka, Prosecco & Cranberry) and the Vanilla & Chilli Caprioska is a firm staff favourite.
  • We recently launched a new dinner menu, as well as dirty burgers we’ve got hot dogs and a very posh fish finger sandwich (Sea Dog) alongside some lighter options such as the Benny Benny Chicken which is a chicken breast with salad and a mayo free slaw, and a Mackerel Nicoise to balance things out.

Canteen Weekender!

Wow it’s been another busy week at the Canteen (thanks to everyone who joined us on Halloween and bravo to all those who tried the raw Judas It’s Scary Hot sauce from The Rib Man) and we’re now gearing up for a big weekend.

Please note, on Saturday night we’re closed for dinner but very much open for brunch (served from 9am to 4pm).

Below is a little list of what’s going down over the weekend and coming up…

  • With us being closed on Sat night and Friday looking pretty much fully booked, you might want to join us on Sunday night and take advantage of a little offer we have for you; the Sunday Night Saver - get any of our burgers or sandwiches for a tenner.
  • When you pop in during the evening, you need to indulge in our dedicated chip menu - the chilli cheese chips are the staff favourite.
  • Next time you’re in the Canteen, don’t forget to pick up your Midweek Brunch Club loyalty card, get £10 off your bill.
  • You should definitely get involved in our new cocktail menu - give the Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned a go, it’s pretty epic and we’re selling a lot of the Damson in Distress which features Sipsmith Damson Vodka, lovely stuff.

Here comes the heat

Tonight, in partnership with Noshable, it’s our Halloween Party and the starter is gonna be hot. The Rib Man has given us a special batch of ‘Judas It’s Scary Hot’ sauce for our Suicide Wings (don’t worry there is an antidote available if you can’t handle it and there will also be a milder buffalo sauce on offer too).

Sipsmith, Gelupo and The Rib Man in for Halloween

Hot news (pun intended), we’ve teamed up with Sipsmith, Gelupo and The Rib Man to make sure our Halloween party on the 31st October is amazing. Here’s the press release with all the details…

Food blogger Adam Layton (Noshable) will be stoking the fires of hell this Halloween for the third installment of his popular pop-ups at Ben’s Canteen. Fresh from his travels across the USA, Adam will be channelling the spirit of Massachusetts’ East Coast Grill, where once a year the chefs substitute the peelers for pitchforks and serve some of the most devilish food in the country.

At Ben’s Canteen this means ‘suicide wings’ tossed in a custom Holy Fuck Buffalo sauce from The Rib Man and a sherry spiked Cuban stew of shredded beef brisket (known locally as ‘ropa vieja’ or ‘old clothes’ in Spanish), the recipe for which has been passed down for generations by top Cuban chef Ernesto Lambrada (The F Word, De La Panza). Guests will be able to choose between mild and Holy Fuck heat levels on the night, and a special ‘antidote’ has been devised to instantly cure any tortured tastebuds… but beware, it comes at a price! Mwahahahaha.

Cocktails will be on hand, courtesy of Hammersmith-based spirits company Sipsmith, while artisan ice cream makers Gelupo (part of Bocca Di Lupo) will be producing a special pumpkin and cinnamon ice cream as a cooling amuse bouche. For dessert Caroline Geaney (ex Hummingbird Bakery) will be creating the authentic American diner staple of pumpkin pie with squirty cream.
