Here at Ben’s Canteen we love to invite people to come in and put on an awesome one-off dinner. In the past we’ve had dinners from top chefs (including the uber talented Ben Spalding) and our friend Noshable Adam has set up some memorable events including Independence Day and Halloween.
In the coming weeks we have two new pop-ups which are gonna rock.
Chinese New Year
On the 13 February, street food warrior, Brewed Boy is paying homage to Mission Street Food – some say these guys really kickstarted the whole gourmet street food movement, whatever, they produce super tasty food and that’s why we’re so excited about the dinner. It’s our way of celebrating the Chinese New Year, a bit of an anti-Valentines thing and most importantly an excuse to have a food based party. The night will include MSF Fried Rice (duck fat fried rice with confit duck, crispy duck skin, seared cauliflower and shiitake), pictured below, and the BC Burger is gonna be pimped up with coffee braised beef short rib and a date and Montecristo cigar jam. Ryan Stafford Mixing It Up at Ben’s Canteen
Before Brewed Boy’s Chinese New Year and homage to Mission Street Food we’re delighted to be playing host to Ryan Stafford Mixing It Up at Ben’s Canteen on the 23rd Jan.
Ryan’s a local lad and a real talent, so we’re super excited about his menu: Carpaccio of Beasts (Venison and Scotch Beef) anybody?! We also can’t wait to tuck into Iberico Bellota and try Majii Leaf, Black Cardamon and Valrhona for the very first time. To see full details and to book please click here (note, at the time of writing there were just 2 tickets left for the 7pm sitting and less than 20 for the 9pm sitting, so get booking people).
