Weds Night: Ryan Stafford Mixing It Up at Ben’s Canteen

Tonight, Masterchef: The Professionals finalist, Ryan Stafford is Mixing It Up at Ben’s Canteen.

Ryan StaffordThe downside to this is that if you don’t have a ticket then you can’t come down to the Canteen tonight (please note, there are still a few 9pm tickets left, click here for more details and to purchase).

If you’re yet to try our new dinner menu (which is full of dirty burgers and lighter bites to balance them out) then you’ll need to wait a wee bit longer, click here to book into the Canteen for another night.

This weekend at Ben’s Canteen

The snowpocalypse has hit! And as you can see it’s starting to settle up here on St John’s Hill.

Snow on St John's Hill

So, settle in is exactly what you should do this weekend. De-ice with a Sipsmith Classic Bloody Mary,

Bloody Mary

our new Marmalade Martini or a Hot Chocolate with Amaretto or if you’re doing the whole dryathon thing then get stuck into Allpress Coffee or a We Are Tea cuppa (and if you don’t need warming up, a smoothie – we’ve got a whole new range, fresh for this weekend).

Also, this weekend,

  • We have a new dinner menu! It’s full of dirty burgers (e.g. the Big Benny Melt – a burger topped with mac and cheese) and hot dogs but we’ve also added in some lighter options such as the Benny Benny Chicken which is a chicken breast with salad and a mayo free slaw, to balance things out.
  • Dinner now starts early, join us from 5pm and on Fridays and Saturdays the kitchen is open until 11pm, meaning you can join us for late night bites.
  • Book in for an early dinner, from 5-7pm and we’ll give you some  January value in form of a free glass of wine and 2 courses for £18.
  • You can book a table online or by calling us on 020 7228 3260.
  • We’re proud to run SW London’s busiest (and we like to think), best brunch - join us every weekend from 9am-4pm. We don’t take bookings for weekend brunch but tables do become available quickly, grab a coffee and/or a bloody mary at the bar whilst you wait.
  • Make your weekend last longer by joining us for the Sunday Night Saver - all burgers and sandwiches for a flat tenner, that’ll help banish the Sunday night blues.

And other stuff,

Upcoming Pop-Ups at Ben’s Canteen

Here at Ben’s Canteen we love to invite people to come in and put on an awesome one-off dinner. In the past we’ve had dinners from top chefs (including the uber talented Ben Spalding) and our friend Noshable Adam has set up some memorable events including Independence Day and Halloween.

In the coming weeks we have two new pop-ups which are gonna rock.

Chinese New Year

On the 13 February, street food warrior, Brewed Boy is paying homage to Mission Street Food – some say these guys really kickstarted the whole gourmet street food movement, whatever, they produce super tasty food and that’s why we’re so excited about the dinner. It’s our way of celebrating the Chinese New Year, a bit of an anti-Valentines thing and most importantly an excuse to have a food based party. The night will include MSF Fried Rice (duck fat fried rice with confit duck, crispy duck skin, seared cauliflower and shiitake), pictured below, and the BC Burger is gonna be pimped up with coffee braised beef short rib and a date and Montecristo cigar jam. Click here for full details and to book your tickets.

Chinese New Year

Ryan Stafford Mixing It Up at Ben’s Canteen

Before Brewed Boy’s Chinese New Year and homage to Mission Street Food we’re delighted to be playing host to Ryan Stafford Mixing It Up at Ben’s Canteen on the 23rd Jan.

Ryan’s a local lad and a real talent, so we’re super excited about his menu: Carpaccio of Beasts (Venison and Scotch Beef) anybody?! We also can’t wait to tuck into Iberico Bellota and try Majii Leaf, Black Cardamon and Valrhona for the very first time. To see full details and to book please click here (note, at the time of writing there were just 2 tickets left for the 7pm sitting and less than 20 for the 9pm sitting, so get booking people).

This weekend at Ben’s Canteen

Also, this weekend,

  • Dinner now starts early, join us from 5pm and on Fridays and Saturdays the kitchen is open until 11pm, meaning you can join us for late night bites.
